MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing)

MEP stands for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing — the three core building systems that make a structure functional. Mechanical covers heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; electrical covers power, lighting, and low-voltage systems; plumbing covers water supply, drainage, and gas.

Together, MEP systems represent a large share of a building's cost and complexity, and their design and installation have to be coordinated so ducts, pipes, and conduit do not conflict in the same space.
